So what art supplies do I recommend?

Here are some links to purchase art supplies from Amazon. I have separated them from beginners to intermediate

 Supplies for Beginners

Watercolor Paint:

Out of these three sets, I have personally only used the Sakura Koi one when I was first starting out. But honestly it’s all about how much you think you’re willing to commit. If you’re unsure, I think the middle is a good option because it comes with lots of paints and brushes. Great for a beginner!

Watercolor Brushes:

The Winsor & Newton Cotman brushes are the set I use most frequently.

Watercolor Paper:

When purchasing watercolor paper, please make sure it’s at least 140lbs / 300gsm.
Anything less than that your paper will warp badly or tear.
For this reason, I hardly ever recommend Canson Watercolor Paper.

 Supplies for Intermediate

Watercolor Paint:

I HIGHLY recommend any of these paints. I work with them daily. For pastries, I use the Watercolor Complexions.
It’s meant for skin tones, but I find that the different shades of brown work wonders for a croissant or an eclair.

Watercolor Brushes:

So these brushes fall under Intermediate to Advanced.
If I had to recommend one in particular, it would be the Dugato one because of the brush sizes (they are the most commonly used ones) or the Winsor Newton Set.

Watercolor Paper:

For fun or quick sketches, I would purchase the little sketchbook.
For daily use, I use the Arteza Watercolor paper.
For special paintings, I use the Arteza 300lbs/640 gsm.

Here are some books I personally own and love:
