How my journey began

I started as a brush letterer while finishing my degree in graphic design and working as a photographer. I could always sketch and draw with pens and markers, but painting eluded me. I thought in order to be a painter, I had to use oil or acrylic paint. I even signed up for an oil painting class at the famous Art Students League in my hometown, NYC, and what I found was a serious atmosphere, snobby students, and an unstructured class. I was completely lost.

Fast forward 4 years later, I was living in LA, and a friend I made really wanted to learn how to brush letter. In exchange, she would teach me how to watercolor. So we met at the Carrera Café on Melrose and ordered lattes alongside pastries. While we spent the next few hours creating and exchanging skill-sets, I didn’t realize that what I was learning was bigger than just watercolor: I was learning how to paint.

I continued my watercolor journey by trying my hand at florals (like all the influential watercolor artists on Instagram), but it really wasn’t for me…like really. What I really enjoyed was traveling and pastries, ESPECIALLY French pastries (yum). I searched online for how-to-draw pastry books with zero luck, so I decided to create my own!

This brings me to YOU!

My goal is to teach you how to paint watercolor pastries in a fun, relaxed atmosphere alongside my silly catchphrases (ex: I like big brushes and cannot lie).

More importantly, I aim to provide an inclusive, judgment-free space while giving you the time to percolate your skills (see what I did there?)  through a guided and structured class that’ll leave you feeling proud of what you’ve created while building up your confidence to try new things *cue fanfare*
